Three Major Technical Foundations Of Smart Cities

- Apr 13, 2018 -

At present, China is in the process of rapid urbanization. The scale of the city is continuously expanding. It plays a very important role in promoting economic, social, and humanistic development and stimulating the country's overall level of development. However, with the increasing pressure on urban environmental protection, energy conservation, transportation, and industrial transformation, new urban development models and management tools are urgently needed to enhance the level of urban development. With the rapid development and wide application of information technology, the concept of "Smart  City" is ready to come. More and more cities in the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” put forward the construction of smart cities as a mode of development. Therefore, the construction of smart cities in the future will set off a new round of climaxes in our country. Smart cities as the perfect combination of information technology and urban construction involve many technologies. The article mainly discusses the technical foundation of our country's smart city, and analyzes the limitations and technical bottlenecks of smart city application according to our current environment, and proposes that innovation technology is the key to creating a smart city.

The accumulation of cultural materials and the advancement of science and technology are gradually evolving along with the cities, and the driving force for urban development has slowly become the fruit of wisdom. That is, the people of the general public can enjoy the services and products brought about by innovative technologies without interruption. At present, the construction of smart cities has been given national attention and vigorous promotion by various governments. More and more smart cities will be presented in front of the public. So-called smart cities are based on scientific and rational concepts of urban development and are based on the latest generation. Information technology, based on ubiquitous Internet and comprehensive information perception, realizes the intelligent self-awareness and self-optimization of seamless connection and collaborative linkage between human, object, and urban functional systems, thereby contributing to people's livelihood, environmental protection, public safety, and urban functions. Various urban needs, such as business activities, make smart responses to form a safe, convenient, college, and green urban form with sustainable endogenous power. The smart city realizes the optimization and upgrading of the urban system, which makes the city's system roots perfect, smarter, more coordinated, and more developed, making people and things in the city more intelligent and more harmonious, and making people's lives in the city more happier.

Three major technical foundations of smart cities

The construction of smart cities requires the joint action of technological innovation, public awareness, and government management. Among them, technological innovation is the cornerstone of building a smart city. "Information" is the core of wisdom, so "information technology" is the core technology to support smart cities.

1. Broadening of communication technology allows smart cities to have a nervous system

A person needs to transmit all kinds of information he sees, hears, and touches to the brain, and he needs to have a nervous system throughout his body. For a smart city, having such a nervous system is the most fundamental requirement for achieving wisdom. Then, various types of sensor products such as ultrasonic sensors are also widely used. As a result, the communication network that is formed is like the nervous system of the city. Only with it, information can be accessed.

2. The Popularization of Internet Technology Brings Wisdom to Close to Common People

Before Internet technology, information processing was only a matter of gathering large-scale computer equipment in a few dedicated computer rooms, and had little to do with ordinary people. Although information can be transmitted, the scope of information transmission is very limited and it is far from reaching the end of the city. Internet technology has fundamentally changed the way humans acquire and process information, making it possible for any ordinary citizen to access and generate information at will. The ability of intelligence is only really close to ordinary people, and a smart city can be realized.

3. The development of embedded technology enables the ability of wisdom to expand into

From a technical point of view, “Smart City” is a city information system based on network information. The difference in its ability of wisdom comes from the difference in the ability to obtain information. A smart city needs more people to be able to obtain and generate information at any time. The various infrastructures in the city also need to be capable of automatic information collection and dynamic supervision. From a technical point of view, it is a variety of devices that require the capability of independent computing and networking. The development of embedded technologies makes these possible. Therefore, embedded technology is one of the technological foundations of smart cities, and it enables the ability of wisdom. From people to items.
